Remove Emojis From Text

Paste your text, press Remove emojis, and copy the result: every emoji is deleted while letters, numbers, punctuation and line breaks stay exactly as they were.

What Counts as an Emoji

The tool removes every character that Unicode marks as Extended_Pictographic. That covers faces, hands, people, animals, food and objects, and also older pictographic symbols such as ❤, ✔, ‼ and arrows like ↔ and ▶.

It also removes the invisible pieces that build multi-part emoji: the emoji variation selector (U+FE0F), skin-tone modifiers (U+1F3FB to U+1F3FF), the regional-indicator letters that pair up into flags (U+1F1E6 to U+1F1FF), the keycap mark (U+20E3) and the tag characters used in flags such as England's (U+E0020 to U+E007F). The zero-width joiner (U+200D) is removed when it links the parts of an emoji, as in a family or a profession emoji.

What Is Kept

Letters in every script stay untouched, including accented Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and Hindi. Digits, # and * stay, so the keycap emoji 1️⃣ becomes a plain 1. Punctuation, tabs and line breaks are left as they are, and so is a zero-width joiner that is not part of an emoji, because Hindi, Persian and other scripts use it to shape letters.

With Keep ©, ® and ™ ticked, the copyright, registered and trademark signs stay even though Unicode lists them as pictographic. Untick it to remove them too.

Spacing changes only right next to a removed emoji. If the emoji sat between two spaces, one of them is dropped, so "Hi 😀 there" becomes "Hi there". If removing it would leave a space or tab at the start or end of a line, that one space or tab next to the emoji is dropped, so "😀 hello" and "hello 😀" both become "hello". A space before punctuation stays ("Thanks 👍!" becomes "Thanks !"), line breaks are never removed, and lines without an emoji are not touched.

Will it remove numbers, # or *?

No. Digits, the hash sign and the asterisk are never removed. Only the emoji form around them goes: 1️⃣ becomes 1 and #️⃣ becomes #.

What about ©, ® and ™?

They are kept while the Keep ©, ® and ™ box is ticked, which is the default. Untick the box to remove them along with the emojis.

Is my text private?

Yes. The cleaning runs in your browser and the page makes no request with your text. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored.
